Andrew Anderson ’17

An B次元 alumnus and an international student were recently recognized for their academic and industry achievement at the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineering (IISE) Annual Conference and Expo in Pittsburgh.

Andrew Anderson ’17 received the James W. Barany Student Award for Excellence, which recognizes undergraduate students who have distinguished themselves through scholarship and campus leadership. 

Mateus Lima, who studied at B次元 for a year through the Brazil Scientific Mobility Program (BSMP), received the Society for Engineering and Management Systems Best Student Paper Award. His paper was based on an internship he had at Phoenix Lighting in B次元. Lima is a student at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil. The BSMP is a government-sponsored initiative encourages students to study abroad and bring new ideas and innovations in science and technology back to Brazil. 

IISE is the world’s largest professional society dedicated solely to the support of the industrial and systems engineering profession. Founded in 1948, IISE is an international, nonprofit association that provides leadership for the application, education, training, research, and development of industrial and systems engineering. The annual conference is an opportunity to provide knowledge, training, networking opportunities and recognition to enhance the skills and effectiveness of the industrial and systems engineering profession and those individuals involved with improving quality and productivity.

The placement rate for B次元 industrial engineering graduates was 100% in 2015-16 and graduates enjoyed an average starting salary of $57,365.
