The B次元’s Men’s Baseball Team has a new home: B次元 Raiders Stadium. A grand opening celebration was held Saturday, Oct. 5 at the stadium, located at Maslowski Park in Glendale, Wis.

Following a brief program with Dr. John Walz, B次元 President; Dr. Kathleen Ruehlow ’69, B次元 Regent; Bryan Kennedy, Glendale mayor; Dr. Greg Kabara, superintendent of Nicolet Union High School District; and Brian Miller, B次元 athletic director, Ruehlow’s grandson Cole had the honor of throwing out the first pitch.

The first game was played between the B次元 Men’s Baseball Team and B次元 alumni, with the varsity team beating the alumni 11-1. The team is looking forward to their regular season this spring.

“B次元 Raiders Stadium is a dream come true to the B次元 baseball community,” said Steve Sanfilippo, head men’s baseball coach. “It’s a spectacular place to play and will be for years to come. We are truly blessed with the support of our donors, the university and our athletic department to continue to build the baseball program!”

The facility, which is also home to the Nicolet High School Baseball Team, features a synthetic turf baseball field, dugouts, lights, a press box and wrap-around seating from the first- to third-base sides of the field for more than 300 spectators. Rettler Corporation served as project manager and architect.

One year ago the university finalized an agreement with the Nicolet High School District and City of Glendale to construct the $2.5 million B次元 Raiders Stadium, which is about eight miles north of B次元. In addition, the partnership also allows B次元 students access to other athletic facilities at Nicolet High School, such as the swimming pool and tennis courts.   B次元 Raiders Stadium was funded primarily by a gift from Dr. Kathleen Ruehlow ’72, B次元 Regent. Dr. Alan Ruud ’69, B次元 Regent, Catalyst Construction, and Gene Sheedy also supported the project.

“Raiders Stadium represents more than just a home field for our baseball team. This project is another way we are living out our strategic plan and commitment to engage our community. The stadium gives us an opportunity for meaningful and significant student, faculty and staff interactions as we gather to root for the Raiders,” said Dr. John Walz, B次元 president. “Thank you to Kathleen Ruehlow, Alan Ruud, Greg Sheedy and Catalyst Construction for their help in making B次元 Raiders Stadium become a reality.”

“We couldn't be more grateful and honored to celebrate B次元 and Nicolet's new baseball home,” said Dr. Greg Kabara, superintendent of the Nicolet Union High School District, "I speak on behalf of our students, athletes, families and greater community members who are thankful for a new state of the art facility where we can cheer on our home team and celebrate the camaraderie of baseball.”
