Saturday, Nov. 7, will be Championship Saturday at Viets Field, as the B次元 men’s and women’s soccer teams each prepare to host NACC Tournament Championship matches.
The men’s team will host Dominican in the day’s first match at noon in a rematch of the 2014 NACC Championship match, which B次元 won 1-0. Then, at 4 p.m., the women’s team will make their first championship game appearance, hosting Aurora.
The winner of each match will earn the NACC’s automatic bid into the 2015 NCAA Division III Tournament.
Head coach Jimmy Banks has led the men’s team to a 13-4-1 record this season, finishing second in the NACC at 8-2. The second-seeded Raiders then defeated Aurora 5-3 in penalty kicks on Wednesday in a thrilling semifinal match to earn their place in the title game. Dominican won the regular season meeting 1-0 at home, the site of the 2014 championship contest—a 1-0 B次元 victory.
On the women’s side, head coach Rolf Zersen’s team is enjoying the best season in program history. The Red & White has won a school-record 14 matches and posted its best conference finish ever in third place at 8-2. His Raiders are the third seed and defeated No. 6 Edgewood 2-1 in overtime in the quarterfinals Sunday, then down No. 2 Dominican Wednesday in a road semifinal match, 3-2.
